Doctoral Workshop
Overview (DOWNLOAD
pdf)
The EuSEC 2010 Doctoral Workshop is an interactive forum, where PhD students
have the opportunity to share their research findings and receive useful
feedback and advice as they prepare their dissertations. To achieve this goal,
the doctoral workshop targets PhD students who are approximately half-way
through their doctoral studies.
Participation in the doctoral workshop is only open to PhD students
who have already applied and is not open to other delegates.
Doctoral Workshop Format
The EuSEC 2010 Doctoral Workshop is a half-day event consisting of the
following elements:
- Workshop Lunch. During the workshop lunch, accepted students will
have the opportunity to interact with senior researchers and practitioners
to get inspiration regarding “life after the PhD defense”.
- Synopsis Presentations. A number of students will have the
opportunity to give presentations of their work. Each presentation will be
followed by feedback/discussion. The feedback will be provided by both other
students and by a panel consisting of senior researchers and practitioners.
- Birds of a Feather Session. After the presentations, the
participants will be divided into groups to discuss issues related to
doctoral research in systems engineering. At the end of the session, each
group will share their insights with the other groups.
